Second Annual Opposite-Handed Tennis Tourney Benefit

 

What: A fun tourney to challenge the other side of your brain and body with a tennis racket and ball while contributing to Free the Slaves, a charity that works to free enslaved people, spread awareness and to help make cultural and governmental changes to eliminate it entirely. There are estimated to be 27-30 million slaves worldwide and they exist in every county, including the United States. Donations are appreciated even if you are unable to play in the tournament.


When: Saturday October 4th from 2:30 to approximately 6 pm at the Middleton High School courts on Park Lawn. Sunday October 5th will be a rain day if we are unable to hold the tournament on Saturday. If it is raining or the weather looks iffy please call Kalla Schaefer at (608) 220-8956 to check and see if the tournament is running on time or needs to be moved to Sunday.


Scoring: Best two out of three 10 point tiebreakers, win by one point.


Format: Players may only use their non-dominant hand (no ambidextrous players allowed). No two-handed forehands or backhands are allowed. All shots must be hit one-handed. All normal tennis rules apply. There will only be a doubles draw. Any age or gender may play together but participants must be at least 13 years old. A backdraw is included for teams losing the first round.


Entry Fee: $30.00 per team- Proceeds go to the Free the Slaves charity and are tax deductible.  Please make the check out to Free the Slaves.

2014 Fall SUNDAY Junior Development Program

 

Who: Fall Junior Tennis Program (SUNDAYS... Ages 11 to 18...) See program descriptions below and register at your current playing level; i.e. you might play some on a J.V. high school team, but still need to register for the novice junior sessions. At a minimum, juniors at the Novice level should have 2 or more years of playing experience and be able to serve and rally from the baseline. Contact Lyle if unsure and he'll make the decision as to the proper placement. In the event of bad weather please call either Lyle (220-7533) or Kalla (220-8956) before leaving home

 

Where? Parklawn courts at the Middleton high school

 

Cost? $84.00 for the 1 hour Novice program and...... $108.00 for 90 minute H.S. programs

 

When? Fall session ( 6 weeks): Sept. 7 to Oct. 12

SUNDAYS Noon to 1:00pm: ( Novice Juniors; boys and girls ( ages 11 to 14 )

1:00pm to 2:30pm (J.V. boys and varsity girls )

2014 Fall Jr. Beg/Adv. Beg. (11 to 14 ages)

 

Who? For juniors, ages 11 to 14 with minimal tennis playing experience.

What? This program will introduce juniors to proper stroke production . A variety of ball control exercises will be incorporated into each days routine. Drills will emphasis and improve body balance, racket and ball control. Lots of fun drills to enhance consistency and precision. Please call ( Kalla: 220-8956 or Lyle 220-7533) before leaving home for the courts should we need to cancel due to bad weather. In the event of a rain-out, another weekday will be added........

When? Weekday Program ( twice per week for 6 weeks ): Ages 11 - 14 , T/R 4:30 to 5:30pm

(First class begins Tuesday, Sept. 2nd). All classes meet at Stricker Pond courts in Middleton...................

 

Cost? Weekday: 11 to 14 ages: $144.00

2014 Fall "10 and under" Kids Tennis

 

Who? For kids, ages 5 - 6, 7- 8, and 9 - 10 with minimal tennis playing experience.

What? Our program will continue to be conducted and formatted specific to the ages and experience of those participating...... This is now referred to by the USTA as the Quick Start program. This is a structured format that was developed to facilitate the growth of tennis in kids as young as 5 years . We'll be offering some of these Quick Start concepts with the younger kids in these programs. Please call ( Kalla: 220-8956 or Lyle 220-7533) should we need to cancel due to bad weather. In the event of a rain-out, another Sat. will be added........

When? Saturday Program (once per week for 6 Sat's, starting Sept. 6th): Ages 5 - 6, 9:00 to 9:30am ....... Ages 7 - 8 , 9:30 to 10:15am....... Ages 9 - 10, 10:15 to 11:15am..............All Sat. classes meet at Lakeview Park in Middleton................
